What the CCSP exam looks like

CCSP has 100-150 questions in 180 minutes, Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT); multiple choice and advanced item types. Every figure on this page is read from the official exam page and linked to it.

How many questions, and how long

ISC2 states 100-150 questions for CCSP, with a time limit of 180 minutes. That is about 1.8 minutes a question, including the time it takes to read the stem and the options.

ISC2 publishes a range rather than a fixed count, so the pace above assumes the low end of it. At the top of the range you have less time a question.

What the questions look like

Multiple choice and ISC2's advanced item types. There is no lab and no simulation, so the practice that matters is reading a scenario and choosing well.

How long it stays valid

CCSP is valid for 3 years from the day you pass. ISC2 runs a three year certification cycle. CCSP holders must earn 90 CPE credits across that cycle, 60 of which must be Group A, and pay the annual maintenance fee of U.S. $135 each year on the anniversary of their certification date. ISC2 allows a 90 day grace period after the cycle expiration date to earn and submit required CPE credits. ISC2 runs a three-year cycle. Renewal is CPE credits plus the annual maintenance fee, and the fee covers every ISC2 certification you hold.
