Keep managed instance to one session. It is the only genuinely expensive resource on this curriculum, and the exam asks what it is for and how it differs from a database and a virtual machine, which is a reading and one-look question rather than a fortnight of practice.

Practice the security domain in the free tier. Implementing a secure environment is 22 percent of the exam, and authentication, ledger, data classification, dynamic data masking and Always Encrypted all work on a small Azure SQL Database.

Do not buy a course for the free material. Microsoft Learn covers the curriculum, and the practice assessment is the only paid-feeling resource that is actually free.

DP-300 is valid for one year and renews free through the online assessment on Microsoft Learn, with the window opening six months before expiry.

The assessment tracks the current skills outline, which matters on this exam because the Azure SQL service tiers and their security features have kept moving.

A lapsed certification cannot be renewed; recovery means $165 and the full proctored exam again.
