Passing score

XK0-005

What it takes to pass Linux+

The passing score for XK0-005 is 720 on a scale of 100 to 900. That is a scaled score rather than a percentage, which is the part most people read wrong.

A scaled 720 is not 72 percent

XK0-005 reports results on a scale from 100 to 900, and 720 is the line on that scale, not a percentage of questions. CompTIA converts your raw performance to the scale with a model it does not publish, which weights questions by difficulty. Two candidates can answer the same number of questions correctly and land on different scaled scores.

That has one practical consequence: nobody outside CompTIA can tell you exactly how many questions you can miss. Any site that gives you a precise miss budget is guessing. You can still practice against the line itself: our Linux+ practice exams score against the published 720, so a practice result reads the way the real one will.
