Concept

Simple resiliency stripes data across drives for maximum performance and capacity but provides no redundancy.

Why A

Striping spreads one logical extent over every member, so the surviving drives each hold fragments with gaps where the failed member's share used to sit. Nothing is stored anywhere from which those gaps can be filled back in, and a partial stripe is not a usable file.
