Exam format
CKAWhat the CKA exam looks like
CKA has 15 to 20 hands-on tasks in 120 minutes, hands-on tasks against live clusters, open book against the Kubernetes docs. Every figure on this page is read from the official exam page and linked to it.
How many questions, and how long
Linux Foundation / CNCF states 15 to 20 hands-on tasks for CKA, with a time limit of 120 minutes. That is about 8 minutes a task.
Linux Foundation / CNCF publishes a range rather than a fixed count, so the pace above assumes the low end of it. At the top of the range you have less time a task.
What the questions look like
Entirely hands-on. There are no multiple choice questions at all: you get a terminal against live Kubernetes clusters and are scored on the state of the cluster when time runs out.
What passes
The passing score for CKA is 66 percent.
How long it stays valid
CKA is valid for 2 years from the day you pass. Valid for 2 years; renew by passing the current version of the exam. CKA lasts two years. Renewal means passing the current exam again, though the Linux Foundation discounts exams heavily and often.
What this means for practice
Our CKA practice exams are assembled to the published domain weightings and sat against a 120-minute clock, in exam conditions or in study mode. Every answer shows the official page it was checked against.
