Azure Cosmos DB Developer Specialty: the honest guide
Everything Microsoft Azure publishes about DP-420, in one place: what the exam asks, how the domains are weighted, and what it takes to be ready.
This guide page is built from the registry, not written yet.
Everything below comes from Cosmos DB Developer’s published exam data, and every figure links to the vendor page it came from. The researched version, with study plans and the parts nobody publishes, is still being written. This page is not submitted to search engines until it is.

Frequently asked questions
What decides pass or fail on DP-420?
Data modelling, at 38 percent the dominant domain: partition key choice, embedding against referencing, and designing for the request-unit budget. Most wrong answers on this exam are partition keys that will not scale.
Is DP-420 only for the NoSQL API?
The exam centres on the API for NoSQL, with the SDKs, change feed, indexing policy and consistency levels examined through it. Familiarity with the portal alone is not enough; the SDK behaviour is where questions live.
Note on domain weightings
Microsoft publishes weightings as ranges. The figures here use midpoints of the official ranges from the current DP-420 study guide.
