AGWAHow hard is Google Workspace Admin?
Google Cloud classifies Google Workspace Admin at the intermediate level. It is multiple choice and multiple select, sat in 120 minutes. No invented pass rates anywhere on this page.
The short answer
Associate Google Workspace Administrator is a mid-level exam. It assumes working familiarity with the field it covers.
With a year or two of hands-on exposure to the subject area, preparation is mostly review plus practice under the clock, with real gaps to close where an adjacent role never touched the material. Coming in cold, plan for more study time and use the objectives list to find what you have never touched.
What actually makes it hard
Recognition is not understanding.
The format is multiple choice and multiple select. The wrong options are written to look right to someone who learned the terms without the concept behind them.
Breadth across domains.
The objectives cover 6 areas and the exam samples all of them. Google Cloud publishes no weighting, so nothing tells you which of them carry the most marks.
The clock.
50-60 questions in 120 minutes is about 2.4 minutes each at the low end of that range, and less at the top of it, including the time to read the stem and the options. Reading about the exam does not rehearse that pace; a full-length sitting against the clock does.
Where the weight sits
Difficulty is not spread evenly, and Google Cloud publishes no weighting that says where it sits. The percentages below are ours:

Domain weights are Google's published approximate percentages from the official exam guide (Section 1 ~20%, Section 2 ~23%, Section 3 ~15%, Section 4 ~20%, Section 5 ~10%, Section 6 ~13%). Google publishes tildes (approximate) and the values sum to ~101%. Google does not publish a numeric passing score or a formal retake policy on the certification page.
Where candidates struggle: Core services (23%) and the two identity-and-security sections (20% each) together are about 63% of the exam, so weight your study toward Gmail routing, Drive sharing, OUs, groups, 2SV, admin roles, and access controls before the smaller endpoint and troubleshooting sections.
