The Splunk Certified Cybersecurity Defense Architect is 67 multiple choice questions in 75 minutes, closed book, at Pearson VUE for $130 an attempt, with no prerequisite certification. Splunk rates it expert and describes it as a standard for seasoned professionals who design, build and scale advanced security operations.
The blueprint is eight areas. Security Data Management is 20 percent; Scaling Cybersecurity Defenses and DevSecOps, Measuring and Improving Security Program Effectiveness and Security Capability Selection, Placement, Configuration are 15 percent each; Advanced Incident Response and Management, Advanced Automation and Orchestration and Governance, Risk, and Compliance are 10 percent each; and Advanced Threat Intelligence and Analysis is 5 percent.
It is the least product bound of the Splunk exams. Half of the marks are program design, governance and measurement, and the other half is how security data, response and automation are architected at scale.

Probably not, if
- You are early in security operations. Splunk rates this expert level, and the governance, measurement and capability selection areas assume years of program experience rather than study.
- You want a prescriptive blueprint. Eight areas at 5 to 20 percent with titles like Scaling Cybersecurity Defenses and DevSecOps are judged from scenarios rather than facts.
- You want it to renew your Analyst or Engineer. The handbook lists no downstream certifications for it.
