Frequently asked questions

What happened to the SysOps Administrator certification?

AWS renamed it. SOA-C02, the SysOps Administrator exam, retired in September 2025 and SOA-C03 launched as the CloudOps Engineer Associate. Existing SysOps certifications keep their name and badge until they expire; new passes earn the CloudOps title.

What does SOA-C03 add over the old SysOps exam?

Containers are now in scope, alongside more multi-account and multi-Region architecture and a heavier emphasis on automation and infrastructure as code. The operational flavour is unchanged: this is still the exam about keeping AWS healthy.

Is this still considered the hardest associate exam?

It keeps that reputation. The exam tests operating AWS rather than describing it, and candidates without real console time feel that in the monitoring and remediation domain, which at 22 percent is the largest.
