Sample question 1 of 4

Secure Network Access, Visibility, and EnforcementModerate

Network administrators must authenticate to switches and routers against one central server that also records each login for accounting. Which protocol was designed for this centralized authentication and accounting?

Sample question 2 of 4

Security ConceptsEasy

A volumetric attack floods a firewall so legitimate users cannot reach a protected application, though no data is read or altered. Which security property is harmed?

Sample question 3 of 4

Network SecurityModerate

A security platform ingests a feed of adversary indicators that a provider has already aggregated, analyzed, and enriched with context, and uses it to tune detections. What is the platform consuming?

Sample question 4 of 4

Endpoint Protection and DetectionModerate

A security engineer ranks endpoint vulnerabilities by CVSS base score before applying environmental context. What does that base score, on its own, capture?

An honest study plan

  1. 1. Read the official objectives first

Download the official objectives from Cisco and skim every line. The exam can only test what’s listed there, it’s the contract.

  2. 2. Weight your study toward Security Concepts and Network Security

Together the top two domains are 45% of the exam. Practice them until your accuracy is consistently above 80%.

  3. 3. Drill weak domains, then take a mock exam

Use Domain Drill on your weakest areas, then a full timed mock at real length (Not published by Cisco questions, 120 minutes). Book the real exam when you’re consistently passing mocks, not before.

Where CCNP Security fits

Cisco network track

Cisco removed formal prerequisites, so each step is a recommendation. CCNP needs a core exam plus one concentration; CCIE adds a hands-on lab.

Frequently asked questions

How many exams does CCNP Security take?

Two. The 350-701 SCOR core exam plus one concentration exam, such as 300-710 SNCF for firewalls. SCOR also counts toward CCIE Security.

Is CCNA Security still a thing?

No. Cisco retired the old CCNA Security and CCNP Security concentration structure in the 2020 refresh. The security path now runs CCNA, then CCNP Security built on the SCOR core, then CCIE Security.

What does SCOR actually cover?

Six domains: security concepts (25 percent), network security, securing the cloud, content security, endpoint protection and detection, and secure network access with visibility and enforcement. It spans far more than firewalls.

Do I need CCNP Security for a SOC job?

Not usually. SCOR is an implementation-and-operations credential aimed at network security engineers running Cisco security products. For a SOC analyst role, CyberOps Associate or a blue-team credential maps more directly.
