Passing score

DP-700

What it takes to pass DP-700 Fabric Data Engineer

The passing score for DP-700 is 700 on a scale of 1 to 1000. That is a scaled score rather than a percentage, which is the part most people read wrong.

A scaled 700 is not 70 percent

DP-700 reports results on a scale from 1 to 1000, and 700 is the line on that scale, not a percentage of questions. Microsoft Azure converts your raw performance to the scale with a model it does not publish, which weights questions by difficulty. Two candidates can answer the same number of questions correctly and land on different scaled scores.

That has one practical consequence: nobody outside Microsoft Azure can tell you exactly how many questions you can miss. Any site that gives you a precise miss budget is guessing. What you can do is practice against the same cut score: our DP-700 Fabric Data Engineer practice exams score on the published 700 line, so a practice result reads the same way the real one will.

If you miss it

You can retake 24 hours after a first fail; for later retakes the wait time varies. A retake costs another $165, which is why sitting practice exams until you clear the line consistently is the cheapest part of preparing.
