How much does Cloud Digital Leader cost?

This is the cheapest technical-adjacent certification worth holding, and the free path is the complete path. The exam guide is free, Google's learning material is largely free, and there is no lab to fund.

Do not buy a course before reading the exam guide. Five of six sections carry 18 percent each, so the exam wants breadth; a course that goes deep on infrastructure is spending your time in the wrong shape.

Certify once and the next fee is discounted. Google places a discount code in the Benefits section of your certification account after a pass, and it applies to a renewal attempt.

If you are a student, ask before paying list price. Google runs reduced-price routes through faculty-facilitated programs that cover this exam and Associate Cloud Engineer.

A retake is another $99 at full price, with no discount for a second attempt.

The waiting periods are the real cost: 14 days after a first failure, 60 days after a second, 365 days after a third, with four attempts allowed in any two-year period.

Google does not publish a passing score and does not give you one. You get pass or fail with no section breakdown, which makes a failure less diagnostic here than on a Microsoft or AWS exam.

Because there is no score report, the retake plan has to come from the exam guide. Go through it subsection by subsection and mark honestly whether you could explain each line to a colleague in two sentences. The unmarked lines are the study plan, because nothing else is going to tell you.

Cloud Digital Leader is a Foundational certification, valid for three years, and the renewal window opens 180 days before it expires.

Renewal means passing the applicable exam again inside that window, and exam fees apply to renewal attempts. Google also offers shorter renewal exams and a learning-based route through Google Skills for certifications that support them, so check what is offered for this one when your window opens.

Three years is generous, and it suits this certification: the business vocabulary of cloud adoption moves more slowly than any product surface, so a three-year-old pass is not embarrassing in the way a three-year-old technical certification can be.

The discount code from your last pass applies to a renewal attempt, so plan to use it rather than let it expire alongside the certification.
