What the Core Certified Power User exam looks like

Splunk states 65 questions for Core Certified Power User, with a time limit of 60 minutes. That is about 0.9 minutes a question, including the time it takes to read the stem and the options.

The count is fixed. Splunk does not publish the cut score, so there is no miss budget to work out.

65 multiple choice questions and nothing else. Splunk sets no lab and no simulation on this exam, so the practice that matters is reading a scenario and choosing well under the clock.

Splunk makes you wait seven days after a failed attempt before you can sit the exam again, and says the wait is longer for later retakes. Splunk reserves the right to deny a retake beyond the sixth attempt. A retake costs another $130.

Core Certified Power User is valid for 3 years from the day you pass. All Splunk certifications run a three year life cycle from the date of the highest certification exam passed. Splunk stopped renewing certifications through coursework on 1 March 2026, so renewal now means either retaking the same exam in the final year of the window or earning a higher level certification in the same track. Splunk says a certification you let lapse is marked inactive, and that you then restart the program at the Splunk Core Certified Power User level. Splunk runs a three year cycle and, since 1 March 2026, renews only by examination: you retake this exam in the final year of the window or pass a higher certification in the same track. Either way renewal costs another $130 attempt.
