Splunk makes you wait seven days after a failed attempt before you can sit the exam again, and says the wait is longer for later retakes. Splunk reserves the right to deny a retake beyond the sixth attempt. A retake costs another $130.

Enterprise Certified Architect is valid for 3 years from the day you pass. All Splunk certifications run a three year life cycle from the date of the highest certification exam passed. Splunk stopped renewing certifications through coursework on 1 March 2026, so renewal now means either retaking the same exam in the final year of the window or earning a higher level certification in the same track. Splunk says a certification you let lapse is marked inactive, and that you then restart the program at the Splunk Core Certified Power User level. Splunk runs a three year cycle and, since 1 March 2026, renews only by examination: you retake this exam in the final year of the window or pass a higher certification in the same track. Either way renewal costs another $130 attempt.
