Entirely. There are no multiple choice questions. You work on a live Red Hat Enterprise Linux system and are scored on the state of that system when time runs out, which is why it carries more weight than a written exam and is far harder to pass without doing the work.
How much does the RHCSA exam cost?
The EX200 exam is $500 in the United States. Red Hat's official training courses cost much more and are usually employer funded, but you can prepare on a free Red Hat Developer subscription and public documentation.
RHCSA or CompTIA Linux+?
Linux+ is vendor neutral and multiple choice; RHCSA is Red Hat specific and entirely practical. RHCSA carries more weight in Red Hat Enterprise Linux shops and is harder to fake, because every task is graded on a real system rather than recognized in a list.
How long is RHCSA valid?
Three years. You renew by passing the current RHCSA again or by earning a higher Red Hat certification such as RHCE, which extends the whole certification.

The current EX200 exam is based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.
