Opens next. The first practice exam opens at 50 verified questions, spread across all 4 domains.

Every question here is verified against vendor documentation before it serves, which is why the count grows slowly.

Where to focus: Sections 2 and 3 carry 30% each, so 60% of the exam is building a solution and then operating it. Time on the console and in gcloud against Compute Engine, GKE and Cloud Run is worth more than reading.

What the exam actually asks you to do

Multiple choice and multiple select, in Google's own words. No labs, no console access, and nothing to configure during the exam.

  • Multiple choice
  • Multiple response

Nothing here needs a lab. Reading carefully and eliminating options is the whole skill. Google Cloud, Associate Cloud Engineer exam details

No complete practice exam yet. A form is 50 questions apportioned to the official weightings, and a partial one would report a score that means nothing, so none is assembled until the questions are there.

Where Associate Cloud Engineer fits

An honest study plan

  1. 1. Read the official objectives first

Download the official objectives from Google Cloud and skim every line. The exam can only test what’s listed there, it’s the contract.

  2. 2. Weight your study toward Planning and implementing a cloud solution and Ensuring the successful operation of a cloud solution

Together the top two domains are 60% of the exam. Practice them until your accuracy is consistently above 80%.

  3. 3. Drill weak domains, then sit a numbered practice exam

Use Domain Drill on your weakest areas, then sit a full-length form under exam conditions: 50 questions in 120 minutes, scored against the published pass mark. Book the real exam when you are consistently clearing that, not before.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Associate Cloud Engineer exam cost and how long is it?

$125 plus tax, 2 hours, 50 to 60 multiple choice and multiple select questions. You can sit it online-proctored from home or at a test centre. Google recommends 6 or more months of hands-on Google Cloud work first, but sets no formal prerequisite.

What score do you need to pass?

Google does not publish one. No cut score appears on the certification page, in the exam guide, in the certification terms or in the Cloud Certification help centre, so anyone quoting you a number is guessing. You get a pass or fail result, not a score.

Is there an exam code like AZ-104?

No. Google names its certification exams rather than numbering them, so there is nothing to search for on a voucher. The short code shown on this page is the common abbreviation, not a code Google publishes.

How is the exam weighted?

Google publishes the split in its exam guide: setting up a cloud solution environment 20%, planning and implementing 30%, ensuring successful operation 30%, and configuring access and security 20%. Sixty percent of the exam is build and run work.

What happens if you fail?

You wait 14 days before a second attempt, 60 days before a third and 365 days before a fourth, and you get four attempts in any two year period. Each attempt is paid at full price.

Associate Cloud Engineer is not for sale yet. A certification goes on sale when it has a complete practice exam behind it, and this one does not, so there is nothing here worth charging for. Everything published is free to answer in the meantime.
